WHAT LEVEL IS BLACK PEARL GRANITE?
Black pearl granite is usually level two since it comes from India and has a uniform color. A thin slab could be a lower grade.
Level one granite is only about 3/8 inch thick, and big box stores often import it from China. Level two granite comes from India or Brazil and is about 3/4 inch thick. You’ll start to see more color movement at this level. Level three granite and above also often comes from Brazil or India, but the patterns are more striking. This level will showcase bold waves of color and contrasting hues.
DOES BLACK PEARL GRANITE NEED TO BE SEALED?
Black pearl granite is one of the hardest varieties of granite. If your granite kitchen countertop is polished, you don’t necessarily need to seal it. However, make sure you know you have true black pearl granite and not a lookalike. If you’re unsure, it won’t hurt to seal it once a year anyway.
Now, if you have honed granite countertops with a matte finish, you can apply oil or wax to create a uniform shine.
