Travertine is a good decorative material. Travertine has been favored for many years since the world designer I.M. Pei introduced travertine to China, even now that there are more and more new varieties of stone, the favor for it continues and has never been left out.

However, although travertine is good, if it is misused, it will be counterproductive, not only can not play a good decorative effect, but will leave endless troubles, cause stone lesions, and seriously affect the decorative effect of travertine.

Travertine that was originally bought at a high price has become worthless, and has the same fate as those low-grade stones.

Please look at the characteristics of the travertine surface?

There are many holes on the surface of the block . After the rain, there is no doubt that a large amount of rainwater enters the inside of the travertine. When travertine is processed, a lot of water, dirt, and even organic matter get into the travertine. The water entering the travertine with the production and processing is difficult to dry, and the dirt cannot be sorted out.

From the travertine slab sawn it can be seen that there are many holes of different sizes on the surface, which are the "culprits" that affect the surface effect of the stone and cause lesions in the future.

Roman travertine has engineering applications:

After looking at the above pictures of the projects decorated with holes, the author sincerely admires the effect of the travertine decoration!

However, the author turned from admiration to regret. It is a mistake to use travertine for the ground decoration of buildings. It is a misuse of travertine and a waste of a very good material. It is a pity.

Maybe the ground decorated with travertine is still shining with light, brilliance and halo, does not mean that its hidden problems and stone lesions will not break out in 2, 5, or even 10 years? It's just a matter of time, it will break out sooner or later, not to mention, some engineering projects have already broken out.
