In road engineering, kerb is an important part of road ancillary facilities.Curb stone is also called side stone, tooth, further subdivision is also called side stone, flat stone, edge stone, edge stone, flat tooth and so on, many names, often bring confusion to how to distinguish valuation.
Kerb, as the name implies, is set between the pavement and other structures, or, is set in the pavement edge and other components of the cross section of the marking stone.
Kerb stone can be divided into:
Side stone: it refers to the facility that is set on both sides of the road surface or around the divider and safety island, which is higher than the road surface and separates the roadway from the sidewalk, green belt, divider and safety island, etc., and demarcates the roadway scope to maintain traffic safety and longitudinal guide to eliminate the pavement rainwater.Side stones and flat stones can be used in a complete set. They are usually set on the edge of asphalt pavement (see the figure below for details), and are collectively called side stones. From the form of view, the biggest characteristic of the side stone is higher than the road, therefore, it is also called the edge stone, the vertical tooth, and the flat stone is also called the flat tooth.
Kerb: refers to the set on the road between roadway and the shoulder, senior between pavement and low-level pavement and different structure types of pavement joint or reserved road asphalt pavement joint out of the top face flush with the road, for motor vehicles through, calibration scope of road surface, road will be not damaged facilities and maintenance of the road edge. The biggest characteristic of the kerb is that it is flush with the road, therefore, it is also called the kerb.
Curb stone can be divided into cement concrete precast, natural stone chisel, block masonry and cement concrete pouring in place. From the type can be divided into: linear and arc type.
