What are the ways to reduce marble rust spots?

There are many reasons for marble rust spots. When the rough stone is cut with steel grit, the marble surface may not be cleaned due to the residual steel grit, and rust spots will form after the action of water vapor. Generally speaking, after the marble is ground and polished, the rust spots usually do not occur again.

Ways to reduce marble rust spots

1.Marble shall be protected before installation to prevent moisture from entering the stone slab, so as to avoid the oxidation reaction of iron-containing minerals with moisture and oxygen in the air to cause rust yellow.

2. When cleaning marble, avoid using acidic detergents, because acidic substances are easy to dissolve marble iron minerals, and then further react with moisture and air to cause rust yellow.

3. When the marble is installed by the dry method, the stainless steel holders should be carefully selected to avoid the pendants from rusting back and spreading to the surface of the marble to turn rusty yellow. After the decoration of the marble saw wear, the protective agent should be applied once again to prevent the rust from spreading to the surface and causing pollution.

There are many iron-containing minerals in marble, such as iron carbonate, iron sulfide, iron silicate minerals, etc. Generally, iron-containing minerals are relatively stable with iron silicate minerals, and iron sulfide is the most unstable. Iron can be said to be the biggest cause of rusty yellow pollution on the surface of marble.

The marble is cut and pickled, and the residual acid is caused by accelerated oxidation of the iron-containing minerals in the marble. When the marble is installed by the wet reinforcement method or the dry method, the iron fittings rust and spread to the surface of the marble to form rust yellow.

The factors that cause rust yellow are because the marble itself contains unstable iron-containing minerals, or foreign rust penetrates into the marble surface due to moisture to cause rust yellow. Therefore, reducing the moisture content of the marble can avoid the occurrence of marble rust yellow.
