Classification And Use Of Sandstone
Jan 20, 2020
Sandstone is a granular material with minerals and rock fragments as its constituents. Sedimentologists usually divide sand into coarse sand: particle size of 2-0.5mm; medium sand: particle size of 0.5-0.25mm; fine sand: particle size of 0.25-0.0625mm. The rock formed from such sand is sandstone.
Sandstone is divided into two categories according to the content of heterogeneous bases, namely net sandstones with heterogeneous bases of less than 15% and heterogeneous sandstones with more than 15% heterogeneous bases. The further subdivision of the two can be represented by a triangle diagram. The clastic material components represented by the three end elements are: Q (quartz) end element, F (feldspar) end element and R (rock debris) end element. Sandstone is divided into: 1. quartz sandstone; 2. feldspar quartz sandstone; 3. lithic quartz sandstone; 4. feldspar sandstone; 5. lithic feldspar sandstone; 6. feldspar Lithic sandstone; 7. lithic sandstone
